ABOUT US
Who is Lydick United Methodist Church?
Our efforts focus on being an accepting, friendly, joy-filled, welcoming, Christ-centered church serving our community.
Here’s how our neighbors and members know us:
Our big brick building hosts a newly renovated sanctuary with comfortable padded seats for up to 190.
We are in the heart of Warren Township at the corner of Edison & Quince Roads, between SR2 and US20 on South Bend's west side, two miles beyond the bypass. Click here for Map.
The 3-story educational wing of our building houses our Early Childhood Ministry featuring a Day Care Center for children that has been recognized multiple times as a favorite daycare by the South Bend Tribune's Reader's Choice Awards.
We are a mission-driven church, serving communities near and far in a variety of ways, including:
reading with at-risk children,
in-house food pantry,
visits to shut-ins & hospitalized,
Christmas gift & “warming tree” donations to the neediest distributed through South Bend’s Broadway Christian Parish,
a great playground open to area children, elevator to give full access for all, and our monthly “Mission Noisy Offerings” with children ushers.
Beautiful worship services on Christmas Eve and Easter; summer outdoor communion.
Loving Sunday School classes and adult study all year; and special Bible studies led by pastor.
Our Tuesday “Faith & Friendship Group;”
our Thursday “Men’s Prayer Group;”
Our warm-hearted 10 AM worship services with excellent preaching and a blend of best-loved hymns, gospel songs, and contemporary choruses. Click for Worship Services.
“Open Communion” as we encourage all present to share Holy Communion with us with no denominational or membership barriers. Click for Holy Communion & Baptism.
Lovely chimes playing gentle Christian hymns & songs across the community.
But all this doesn’t tell the whole story of Lydick Church without highlighting our genuine friendliness. We are a medium-sized church that is big enough to serve you and small enough to really know you.
You won’t get lost in the crowd here. You will make new friends, at your pace, especially through our small groups and vocal & handbell choirs. We don’t just tolerate visitors, we seek you out, then make you our special guests while you are with us.
Whether your background is Catholic, Protestant, or no church at all, we make every effort to help you feel “comfortable then equipped” to live for Christ who died for you.
Sure, it’s really hard to visit a strange church where you haven’t been. But we hope this is your time for a fresh start, learning along with us to love God and love one another.
We want to be your church family home!
